‘Do you like this?’: Man accused of raping boy, 14, after luring him into car in NYC

QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — A man is accused of raping a 14-year-old boy after luring him into his car in Queens last week, authorities said.

“Do you like this?” Virgilio Taveras, 63, asked the boy after allegedly touching his private area in the vehicle, according to court documents.

Prosecutors said Taveras allegedly raped the teen after luring him into his car near 171st Street and Jamaica Avenue on July 1.

The teen was walking down the street when Taveras allegedly drove slowly past him and repeatedly honked his horn, according to the criminal complaint.

“I can help you and get you work. My brother owns a construction company,” Taveras told the boy, the complaint said.

The boy got into the car, and they drove off. Taveras then allegedly told the teen he was attractive. “Do you have a girlfriend or boyfriend?” he asked the boy, according to the complaint.

Taveras then pulled over the car and allegedly inappropriately touched the teen and pulled down his pants before performing a sex act on him, according to court records.

Taveras then drove to the corner of 175th Street and Jamaica Avenue and allegedly slipped the boy a $50 bill before the teen got out of the car, prosecutors said.

Taveras was arrested on July 3 and charged with rape, luring a child, forcible touching, sexual abuse, and endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said.

The defendant was arraigned on Fourth of July and pleaded not guilty. Bail was set at $20,000 cash or $60,000 bond.

His attorney could not immediately be reached on Thursday.
