Alternate Side Parking suspended in NYC: Here’s when and why

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Monday is Memorial Day, the unofficial start of summer, and a day when you can sleep in a bit longer.

Alternate Side Parking will be suspended.

“The City of New York suspends ASP rules on specific legal and religious holidays. The City also suspends ASP rules due to weather and emergencies,” reads the New York City Department of Transportation’s website.

When Alternate Side Parking is suspended, drivers do not have to move their cars for street cleaning and will not receive a ticket.

Since Memorial Day is also a major holiday, the DOT states that you can park at a No-Stopping, No-Standing, or No-Parking sign if the rule is not generally in effect seven days a week.
